*In 2023 and 2024 the AD Hollindale Stakes Day program ran at the Sunshine Coast Racecourse due to heavy rainfall and ongoing track upgrades at the Gold Coast.
This is one of the biggest events run on the Gold Coast aside from January’s Magic Millions races and is run over 1800m.
Each year the A.D. Hollindale Stakes field attracts a good group of staying type horses that are Brisbane bound in a fortnight’s time eyeing the bigger prize money on offer in the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m).
The A.D. Hollindale Stakes – Doomben Cup double is a popular one with the punters each winter and the latest to complete the double were Streama (2014) and Zaaki (2021).
The 2021 AD Hollindale Stakes winner Zaaki further franked the form winning that winter’s Group 2 $1.2 million The Q22 (2200m). He also won two Group 1 races in Melbourne over the spring in 2021 and also returned the following autumn to claim the 2022 $5 million The All-Star Mile (1600m).
Zaaki returned in 2022 to successfully defend his title and become the first back-to-back AD Hollindale Stakes winner since Leebaz (2015-16) before a third in that year’s Doomben Cup results. Zaaki would also go on to run top three in a host of interstate Group 1 events over the following year and win that 2022 VRC Champions Stakes with a successful title defence in the Melbourne Cup Carnival event in November.
Zaaki made history in 2023 when winning the A.D. Hollindale Stakes, held that year at the Sunshine Coast, for a record third straight year.
The 2023 Hollindale Stakes also produced that year’s Doomben Cup winner with Huetor improving on a lead-up second in the Group 2 to claim the big prize in Brisbane at his next start.
Prize money for the AD Hollindale Stakes was boosted to $500,000 in 2021 after the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Trainer Annabel Neasham won her fourth straight Hollindale Stakes in 2024 with Numerian saluting in an upset following the three-peat of stablemate Zaaki (2021-23).
The AD Hollindale Stakes 2025 ran on Saturday May 10, 2025 at the Gold Coast Doomben Cup-bound horses and was won in a stylish 3.5 length romp home by Tony Gollan’s Queensland galloper Antino ($9).

- To Win: #3 Lindermann ($5.50 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Stablemate Buckaroo is favourite for this year’s Hollindale but for value I’ve landed on another from the Waller stable with Lindermann looking an underrated runner here. The Lonhro five-year-old races for the first time since finishing fourth at 30/1 in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth back in mid-April and he’s down in grade for this. Has finished top four in all five assignments so far this year including also a Group 1 Ranvet Stakes second two starts ago at Rosehill. Hasn’t won since the Group 3 Craven Plate last October over this 1800m distance but looks well placed to return to winning form now. He’s drawn wider out, but if Nash Rawiller can slot him into a good spot early stages he should be on pace and have enough in the tank to hold them out late. Needs to get back his confidence after a string of frustrating places but he’s a good horse and this is a winnable race.
2025 AD Hollindale Stakes Field
Each season the AD Hollindale Stakes field attracts a smart line-up of winter gallopers from both Queensland and interstate stables heading towards a Brisbane run in the Doomben Cup.
Gallopers may have had a lead-up run earlier during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival in a race like the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) in early April.
The official A.D. Hollindale Stakes 2025 field & barriers are released the Wednesday of race week and will be published in full below.
The 2025 AD Hollindale Stakes final field features a smart line-up of potential Doomben Cup bound gallopers including last year’s Doomben Cup champ Bois D’Argent coming off a JRA Cup win and Chris Waller’s 2024 Caulfield Cup runner-up Buckaroo.
