- To Win: #1 Mr Brightside ($5.50 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Great edition of the Champions Mile with plenty of winning hopes including Broadsiding back to 1600m who looks a danger but going to stick with Mr B who is deserving of a return to the winner’s stall. His Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes victory at this track and trip in Heavy going earlier this prep was sensational and he’s been far from disgraced without winning when up against the best of the best all campaign. Latest run had him finishing off strongly behind the incredible eight-length champ Via Sistina when fourth the Cox Plate (2040m). This Team Hayes-trained marvel keeps giving, he’ll relish coming back to 1600m, has a lovely record at Flemington, and is drawn to win in gate four. Back on him.

Champions Mile Betting Options
There are many different ways to bet on the Champions Mile. While some bets – like the Champions Mile exotic bets – may be a little confusing for an inexperienced punter, there are plenty of standard bets that are quickly understood and easy to place.
Win – In a win bet you place a stake on a selection to win the Champions Mile. This is a simple bet that offers a great pay-out if you pick correctly.
Place – In a place bet you select a horse to come first, second or third in the Champions Mile – increasing your chances of winning compared to a straight win bet.
Each-Way – An each way bet incorporates two bets on just one horse. Select one horse to either win or place in the Champions Mile for the chance to receive two pay-outs if your selection comes first or to still collect some winnings if your selection comes in second or third.
Champions Mile Exotic Bets
For professional or simply well-practised punters the Champions Mile betting is all about exotic bets. Exotic bets involve up to four horses at a time and are a lot more complex to pull off than the standard Champions Mile bets. However, with a little help from our comprehensive guide you will be able to bet on the Champions Mile like you were born at the track.
Champions Mile Quinella
For a winning Champions Mile quinella, you have to determine the first two horses to cross the line – however, the order in which they arrive is not important. As long as your two runners of choice are the first horses home, you have won and have a huge pay-out to look forward to.
Champions Mile Exacta
A Champions Mile exacta works similar to a Champions Mile quinella again you choose the first two horses to finish the race; however, in a Champions Mile exacta you must pick them in the exact order of arrival. This makes the Champions Mile exacta a difficult bet to win, but in turn it does offer a bigger pay-out than the Champions Mile quinella.
Champions Mile Trifecta
To win a Champions Mile trifecta you have to pick the first three runners across the finish line in the exact order of arrival. A Champions Mile trifecta is considered a massive achievement within the betting community if you can pull it off. To reduce the difficulty of this bet, you can try to place a box trifecta instead, which covers every possible trifecta combination of your selected horses.
Champions Mile First Four
For a successful Champions Mile First Four, you must pick the first four thoroughbred runners to finish the race, in exact order. To pick a winning Champions Mile First Four is no easy feat by any stretch but it does bring you invaluable track credit as a serious punter, as well as a massive pay-out. As with the trifecta, placing a boxed version of this bet will increase your chances of a win, though it is more expensive.
