The Australian Oaks takes place during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and is held on one of the carnival’s biggest Group 1 race days. Conducted on the second Saturday in April on Day 2 of ‘The Championships’ the ATC Oaks is one of four Group 1 races on the card. The meeting also features the lucrative Group 1 $5 million Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m).

There are a number of different lead-up races for fillies in the Australian Oaks field to come via including the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) run the Saturday before and the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill in late March.

The latest fillies to complete the Vinery Stud Stakes – ATC Oaks double are the Chris Waller-trained duo of Verry Elleegant (2019) and Hungry Heart (2021), followed by Treasurethe Moment (2025).

Colette (2020) became the first Adrian Knox – Australian Oaks double winner on the quick back-up since Royal Descent (2013). Colette also went on to take out the second edition of Sydney’s now $10 million The Golden Eagle that November.

In 2024 the Adrian Knox Stakes also produced the Australian Oaks winner with Autumn Angel improving on her lead-up second to win the Group 1 on the quick back-up.

The 2022 Australian Oaks form was franked with the runner-up Gypsy Goddess going on to win the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) in Brisbane two runs later as well as finish third in the $10 million The Golden Eagle (1500m) during the spring.

The ATC Oaks 2024 form was franked with the runner-up Zardozi returning for a big spring that included a fourth in that year’s Melbourne Cup results.

The 2025 ATC Australian Oaks ran at Royal Randwick on Saturday April 12, 2025 on Day 2 of Sydney’s ‘The Championships’ and saw the Matt Laurie trained Vinery winner Treasurethe Moment ($1.55F) salute for the punters to become the latest filly to complete the VRC Oaks / ATC Oaks double.

Stay tuned for our exclusive Australian Oaks 2025 Tips on the million-dollar staying showdown for three-year-old fillies this autumn.

  • Each Way: #1 Leica Lucy ($4.20 at time of publish) – BET NOW

The way Treasurethe Moment demolished them in the Vinery last time out has her the deserving favourite in the ATC Oaks chasing her eighth win on the trot, but for value happy to take Chris Waller’s Kiwi visitor Lecia Lucy each way for a potential upset. She too is out to extend her picket fence having won her past five ahead of this test down under. The classy daughter of Derryn is proven at the 2400m distance coming off a narrow but convincing win in the Group 1 NZ Oaks. Pennyweka did the NZ – ATC Oaks double back in 2023 and there’s plenty to suggest this filly might just do the same. She has barrier one and benefits greatly from the booking of star hoop James McDonald. Watch for her late!

2025 Australian Oaks Field

Every autumn the Australian Oaks field attracts the season’s most promising fillies with the potential to run out a strong mile and a half (2400m). Racing NSW release the ATC Oaks final field on the Tuesday before the race runs as part of the stellar Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day action.

The ATC Australian Oaks 2025 final field features 10 three-year-old fillies with Matt Laurie’s Vinery Stud Stakes champion Treasurethe Moment the hot favourite in gate two chasing her eighth win on the trot.
