Located a mere 4km from the Brisbane CBD, Albion Park Racecourse is a trotting and greyhound racing venue which offers race meets every day of the week. Built around the same time as the Breakfast Creek Hotel opening in 1890, Albion Park was a gallop racing venue until 1981. It is now controlled by the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club with t tenants the Queensland Harness Racing Board and Greyhound Racing Authority residing at the racecourse as well.
The anticlockwise track has a loam surface and has a circumference of 1019m. The short 197m straight proves a challenge for many horses. Allowing a maximum of 14 starters in a standing start race, the track holds harness races on Saturday nights and Tuesdays. Pacing and Trotting equally attract a large number of competitors and spectators for the 1660m and 2138m races.
