Randwick-based trainer John O’Shea has gone from two 2010 Caulfield Cup contenders to none this morning following the scratching of his mare Jessicabeel from today’s $2.5 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m).
Yesterday O’Shea’s other Caulfield Cup entry Zabrasive was scratched from the field due to a minor leg injury and now Sydney Cup winner Jessicabeel has also been ruled out of the feature showdown at Caulfield Racecourse today.
Jessicabeel was drawn in barrier 20 and was to be ridden by James Winks, but with the five-year-old preferring much drier ground than the heavy track conditions at Caulfield today she was well down the Caulfield Cup odds at [sportsbet].
The withdrawal of Jessicabeel means Tony Vasil’s mare Valdemoro will now get a run in the 2010 Caulfield Cup.
Four-year-old Valdemoro is drawn in barrier 14 and is currently rated a $51 chance to win at [sportsbet].
