This year’s Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) field has attracted 11 hopeful three-year-olds with the latest markets at Ladbrokes.com.au tipping a first-up victory by Godolphin‘s resuming two-time Group 1 winning juvenile, Broadsiding.

The ultra-consistent Too Darn Hot colt made it four on the trot last prep including elite level mile victories in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick and the Group 1 J.J. Atkins in Brisbane.

He has been brought on fitness wise ahead of his spring return with two trials this month, gets the run of the race from the favourable inside alley and has star hoop James McDonald aboard.

Current Golden Rose odds on a resuming win by Broadsiding are $3, while it is his stablemate with the fitness edge considered the next best.

Traffic Warden resumed for the Royal Blue brigade on September 14 here and the nicely bred son of Street Boss enjoyed a narrow victory in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m).

That race has proved the key form line to follow into the Group 1 Golden Rose in recent years with Bivouac (2019) the latest to do the double.

Traffic Warden is out to be the first horse to complete the Run To The Rose - Golden Rose double since Bivouac in 2019

Traffic Warden, wider out in gate nine with Ben Melham to ride, currently paying $4 in Golden Rose Stakes betting to be the next.

The Golden Rose results could be a three-horse affair late if the markets are to go by with plenty of attention still focused on one-time favourite Storm Boy now the $4.50 third elect for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

The Magic Millions Classic winning Justify colt resumed as expected with a Group 3 San Domenico Stakes win (1100m) by a big margin in late August.

Things went amiss for the spruik youngster however when he finished third, albeit with excuses having failed to get a dream run, when third in the Run To The Rose.

Having lost few irers that day he is still right in the mix to atone and return to winning form even from the outside barrier 11 draw this weekend.

Outside of the dominant Golden Rose Stakes trio is the last of the single figure fancies, Linebacker, paying $7 and representing the value.

The John O’Shea & Tom Charlton-trained Super Seth colt was runner-up to Broadsiding on a Heavy (10) in the autumn’s Champagne Stakes to see out his two-year-old prep.

Resuming in the Run To The Rose he caught the eye when two lengths back fourth with improvement pending second-up on Saturday from barrier seven with Kerrin McEvoy continuing associations.
