The Victory Stakes 2024 features a small but smart field of potential Stradbroke horses as the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival lead-ups get underway at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The meeting’s key event is the Group $300,000 Victory Stakes (1200m) where nine sprinters will face off over the six furlongs.
Heading the Victory Stakes field and betting markets at $2.60 through Ladbrokes.com.au is star local hope Uncommon James who is undefeated at the track with a two-from-two Eagle Farm record.
His latest win was in last year’s Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (held at Sandown) but he was impressive in Melbourne over the spring with a trio of placings including thirds in the Manikato and Moir.
Fresh he was under two lengths off the winner Zapateo in Rosehill’s Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) on March 23, and he will be fitter for the run ready to fire back in Brisbane second-up on Saturday.
The danger occupying the second line of Victory Stakes betting at $4.60 is the Matthew Dale-trained The Kosciuszko winner Front Page in gate five with Andrew Mallyon aboard.
Third-up and rock-hard fit now, the Magnus seven-year-old has a sensational 1200m record (19:7-2-0) and is out to atone for a fifth to Mazu at Randwick in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes last time out.
He was found out by the Heavy (9) track that day, before which he was eye-catching a quarter length back third in The Galaxy trifecta which looks the form to follow to Queensland for the Victory.
The early Victory Stakes market mover into $7 for the win is the Tony Gollan-trained Antino racing fresh ahead of the Group 1 majors in his home state.
The striking five-year-old son of Redwood thrives at this course (5:4-0-1) and is unbeaten at the distance (3:3-0-0).
A noted first-up performer, he has won three from four when resuming so far and ticks plenty of boxes ahead of Saturday’s event.
He hasn’t raced since November last year when stretched too far at 1800m running 10th in the $2 million Five Diamonds in Sydney.
His runs leading up to that in Melbourne however were excellent including a Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) second when beaten a nostril flare by Attrition after doing all the work from barrier 16 of 16.
In an open race the other single-figure fancies in the Victory Stakes odds online include the rails-drawn Group 2 Sapphire Stakes winner last time out Wee Nessy ($7.50) to be ridden by Adam Hyeronimus and the Robert Heathcote-trained Price Of Boom ($9) one her outside in gate two for hoop Michael Rodd.
The Victory Stakes 2024 is scheduled as Eagle Farm Race 8 at 3:33pm (AEST) on Saturday’s nine-race card with full markets from Ladbrokes.com.au available by clicking here.
