There is money for an upset 2020 The Everest result in Saturday’s $15 million sprint showdown in Sydney with the Godolphin-raced Trekking an early market mover to improve on his third in the event last year.

The world’s richest race run on turf, The Everest (1200m) is the feature event at Royal Randwick on the weekend and features a quality line-up of a dozen of the country’s best sprinters.
Third to the Chris Waller-trained Yes Yes Yes in 2019, the James Cummings-trained Trekking is at double-figures but well-backed in from $17 to $11 in the latest The Everest odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Drawn a treat in gate four with Joshua Parr to ride, the Group 1 winning son of Street Cry presents fit second-up and should relish a return to Sydney after his second to Pippie at The Valley on September 25 in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m).
With winning form up to 1400m, the step-up to 1200m looks ideal for Trekking who is somewhat of second-up specialist chasing his first victory since Adelaide’s Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) back in mid-May.
The post-field The Everest betting markets continue to be led by another graduate out of the 2019 edition with Waller’s fourth-placegetter Nature Strip considered the one to beat this spring.
The TJ Smith Stakes champ could be at had $6 The Everest odds earlier in the week but has subsequently firmed into $4.80 favouritism to atone for his two beaten runs this prep.
He was flat second-up when fourth in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes but tipped to improve and turn the tables on the shock winner out of that, Libertini on the drift in The Everest markets out from $7 to $9.
Battling Nature Strip at the top of the markets as the current co-$4.80 favourite is the Les Bridge-trained Classique Legend.
The gun grey jumps one on the outside of Nature Strip with dual The Everest winning hoop Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle third-up.
An ultra-consistent son of Not A Single Doubt, Classique Legend ran sixth in the race last year but looks stronger 12 months on having won the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) first-up before the Premiere Stakes second.
Hulking South Australian sprinter Behemoth ($9) coming off back-to-back Group 1 wins over 1400m at Caulfield and Gytrash ($6.50) – kept fresh since his Group 3 Concorde Stakes win – round out the single-figure The Everest horses.
