Tony Gollan’s undefeated filly Isotope is early favourite of the 140 two-year-olds making-up the JJ Atkins 2020 nominations this Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

Racing Queensland took the early entries for both the 2020 Stradbroke Handicap and those for the Group 1 $350,000 J.J. Atkins (1400m) this week, the two elite levels to take place at Eagle Farm on June 6 as part of a reduced winter racing line-up in the Sunshine State.
Of the bumper crop of juveniles entered for this season’s JJ Atkins, the early favourite in all-in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is two-time winning Deep Field filly Isotope at $5.
The bonny young bay won her race debut at Doomben on April 11 before a last start Sunshine Coast win on ANZAC Day over 1000m by 2.3 lengths.
Gollan has a further seven JJ Atkins nominations in 2020 including the in-form Starosa, the Starspangledbanner filly having won back-to-back 1350m races this season at Doomben including her latest on May 2 by 4.5 lengths in emphatic fashion.
Starosa is further down the current JJ Atkins odds at $17 and could prove potential value come Stradbroke Handicap Day.
Occupying the second line of the pre-field JJ Atkins betting markets behind Isotope is Wisdom Of Water ($7) before Rothfire ($9) rounds out the current single-figure fancies.
Prepared on the Gold Coast by Toby & Trent Edmonds, Wisdom Of Water is a well-tried Headwater colt who at nomination stage for the J.J. Atkins has had four starts for two wins.
In January he ran an eye-catching fourth when only 2.4 lengths off Away Game in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m), form the winner went on to frank with a host of tough autumn runs including a Blue Diamond fourth and second in the Golden Slipper Stakes.
Last time out Wisdom Of Water enjoyed a home track win over 1200m when carrying 58kg to a runaway 5.5 length victory at the Gold Coast on May 1 in a two-year-olds set weights sprint.
Rothesay gelding Rothfire represents ace Brisbane horseman Robert Heathcote, the young Eagle Farm specialist having won all three of his starts at the track to date.
After starting his career with four straight wins, Rothfire was last seen going down at the Gold Coast as the odds-on favourite when second over 1200m on March 14.
Other notable entries include Group 1 performed Not A Single Doubt colt Not An Option, the Kris Lees-trained Kinloch and Inglis Nursery winner Wild Ruler for Peter & Paul Snowden.
The J.J. Atkins 2020 first acceptances are open until May 27 before the final field and barriers are announced on June 2.
