Eye-catching Golden Slipper placegetter Mamaragan is tipped to salute in an elite level of his own with the class colt lining-up as favourite in Saturday’s Inglis Sires’ 2020 betting at Royal Randwick.

Day 1 of ‘The Championships’ features four Group 1 features, the first of which is the Inglis Sires’ (ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes) run over 1400m for the juveniles.
The 2020 Inglis Sires’ field has attracted 15 two-year-old middle-distance types facing off for a reduced $500,000 in prizemoney due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Drawn a treat in barrier two with Nash Rawiller retaining the ride is the John Thompson-trained son of Wandjina.
A winner on debut at the Randwick track in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) in late February, Mamaragan then stepped out at Rosehill on March 21 in the Group 1 $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m).
He ran a brilliant race for third behind Farnan under three lengths beaten from barrier one and, returning to Randwick, looks well-suited in the Inglis Sires’ over 200m further.
The latest Inglis Sires’ odds at Ladbrokes.com.au list the favourite at $3.20 and firming, Mamaragan backed in from his opening quote of $4.50.
From 2006-19 just three favourites in ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes betting have saluted for the punters however and so there could be value lurking further down the markets again this autumn.
Occupying the second line of Inglis’ Sires betting at $7.50 is the widely-drawn Prague who has the outside alley (15) to overcome.
Prepared by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, this Redoute’s Choice colt is a two-time Group winner most recently in the Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.
He too is a Golden Slipper graduate having run five lengths back sixth in the world’s richest race for two-year-olds, but the barrier this weekend makes it hard to tip him to atone.
Despite the size of the field, the only other runner at single-figure Inglis Sires’ odds paying $8.50 is the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Aim.
Drawn the rails, Aim looks a genuine winning chance at a nice price after he failed to make the starting line-up in the Slipper.
Jockey Kerrin McEvoy chases his third win in the feature aboard the well-bred Star Witness colt, while co-trainer Peter Snowden chases his fifth ATC Sires’ success and second in partnership with his son Paul following their 2017 success with Invader.
Aim is third-up having finished third to Saturday’s favourite Mamaragan in the Skyline before his last start fourth to Prague in the Pago Pago that he can improve on here with the alley to suit and distance looking a positive.
Peter & Paul Snowden also saddle-up lightly-raced Written Tycoon colt Bartley ($11) from barrier nine, the youngster having his second Black-Type start on the back of the devastatingly close second at Canberra in the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes (1200m) a month ago.
Just outside the single-figure fancies meanwhile is the Team Hawkes-trained Ole Kirk ($10) racing for the first time since his third when under a length beaten in Flemington’s Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on March 7.
He caught the eye that run on the back of a Listed win at a blowout price on debut down the straight and looks to frank the Melbourne form having his first official start in Sydney off a winning Randwick trial on March 27.
Other notable hopes in the Sires’ on Saturday include Glen Boss’ mount Larimer Street ($15) who ran second in the VRC Sires’ before a Listed win at The Valley on March 20 and last weekend’s Group 3 Baillieu Handicap winner over the distance at Rosehill Holyfield ($12).
