Begood Toya Mother took the next step in proving his Group 1 potential at Caulfield Racecourse with an impressive first-up victory in the Listed $140,000 Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.

The Myboycharlie five-year-old was the favourite in betting for his Black-Type debut and gave a lovely late kick to hold off the challenge from Godolphin-raced Haunted to enjoy his seventh career win.
After easily ing for easier rivals over a terrific winter campaign in Melbourne, the gun gelding extended his winning streak to seven straight victories in the Regal Roller Stakes results with hoop Declan Bates continuing his lovely association on the Daniel Bowman-trained galloper.
“It’s more of a relief than anything,” Bowman told the media post-win.
“You come out of the winter with all this hype and you’ve got to keep a lid on it.
“He put the sword to them today and they couldn’t keep up.
“It’s a good race to win, good horses win it, you’ve only got to look back on the honour role.”
Begood Toya Mother may have been the punters’ pick, but the field was full of talented Group performed horses.
That included the third-placed mare Fundamentalist who was runner-up in both the Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Randwick Guineas (16500m) on back-to-back Saturdays in March at Randwick.
Top tier racing calls for Begood Toya Mother this Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival with Bowman confirming plans to contest the Group 1 $500,000 Ladbrokes Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) third-up back at Caulfield on September 21.
“We’ll probably see how he pulls up and run either in a fortnight or three weeks and then it’s into the Sir Rupert Clark,” he said.
Current pre-field 2019 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au have Begood Toya Mother as the $7 favourite, firming in from $10 after his Regal Roller success.
