All-Star Mile voting hots up for Alizee

The James Cummings trained Alizee gave her followers plenty of reason to vote for her for the $5m All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington on March 16 after producing an electrifying win at Rosehill last Saturday.

Alizee came from last in the five horse field to score an effortless two lengths victory over Le Romain in the Group 2 $200,000 Expressway Stakes (1200m) with jockey Blake Shinn hardly raising a sweat.

Mid-morning on Monday Alizee had 1,627 votes ed and was gaining momentum in the race to gain a spot in the top ten in the voting order, but Cummings can see her getting Racing Victoria’s vote to be among the final fourteen horse All-Star Mile field if she dosen’t make the top ten when voting is concluded on February 18.

“She has had a faultless campaign and she is a serious mare. The Futurity Stakes in Melbourne looks like a great race for her,” Cummings said.

“We have great expectations for her.”

“She’s the sort of horse that you’d have to imagine, if she didn’t get voted in, she’d be one of the clear top four picks for the s (in the All Star Mile).

Alizee heads the betting for the All-Star Mile at $4.40 at Ladbrokes.com.au while the Chris Munce trained Urban Ruler who currently has the most votes is rated a $101 chance in the betting.

The top ten horses in the All-Star Mile voting will get in the final fourteen horse field while Racing Victoria will hand pick the last four places in the $5m race.

Racing Victoria’s General Manager of Racing Greg Carpenter tweeted that there has been a surge in the number of votes for Alizee who has moved into thirteenth position on Monday morning.

“Huge surge in votes last 12 hours for ALIZEE as she moves into 13th place – All aboard!” Carpenter tweeted over the weekend.

Alizee is a dual Group 1 winner over 1600m at Randwick during her three year old season with wins in the 2017 Group 1 $500,000 Queen Of The Turf Stakes and will chase a third Group 1 trophy at her next start in the Group 1 $500,000 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 23.
