2018 BRC Sprint Field & Odds: Test The World Favourite

Bjorn Baker’s consistent mare Test The World is clear favourite in BRC Sprint 2018 betting for her Doomben debut this weekend on Doomben Cup Day.

The key act on the card, this season’s Group 3 $125,000 Flight Centre BRC Sprint (1350m) field features a 15 horse line-up of quality winter types and the bookies are tipping Testa Rossa four-year-old Test The World as the one to beat.

She sits top of the BRC Sprint odds at $3.70 through Ladbrokes.com.au after coming up trumps with barrier one, class hoop Corey Brown retaining the ride.

Brown was aboard the mare last time out for her first foray into stakes’ company when she crossed second to Anatola at the Gold Coast on May 5 in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m).

Test The World is on the improve, untapped with all the upside and will get the run of the race from the favourable gate on the nice weight.

There are three other single-figure hopes in the BRC Sprint betting markets this carnival including Mr Sneaky ($6.50) chasing his first win since September last year.

The four-year-old son of High Chaparral is a Group 1 placegetter having run second in last year’s Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) in Melbourne and is second-up on the weekend.

His lead-up produced a ninth in the Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m) on April 21 on a rain-affected Doomben track and he is tipped to improve on firmer going, coming back from 58.5kg to 57kg and getting out over a more suitable distance.

The BRC Sprint market mover getting the bulk of the punters’ early is Privlaka ($8 into $7) to be ridden by Craig Williams from barrier five.

Locally trained by Brisbane’s Robert Heathcote, Mossman five-year-old Privlaka has his 19th start at Doomben chasing win number five at the track.

His lead-up run was a fifth when only two and a half-lengths beaten by subsequent Doomben 10,000 runner-up Impending in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m).

The Victory Stakes form has already been franked and money is coming for Privlaka to further that on Saturday, especially coming back from 58.5kg to just 54kg and rising to the 1350m (12:3-3-1).

Rounding out the single-figure fancies at $9 is Ulmann out in barrier 11, the Darren Weir-trained Sebring six-year-old having his third Doomben run and looking to improve on his third in the race last year behind Jungle Edge.

Other notable BRC Sprint hopes this weekend include the flying Chris Waller-trained Street Boss four-year-old Tougherthantherest ($10) drawn wide in barrier 14 chasing a fourth win on the trot, Mick Price’s last start Wangoom Handicap third placegetter Bassett ($11) and the local Tony Gollan-trained Magic Millions QTIS winner from January I’m A Rippa ($13) who is a specialist at the track / distance (10:2-4-2).
