Group 1 placed filly Oohood is a notable absentee from the nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Oohood chalked up her third Group 1 placing when nosed out by outsider El Dorado Dreaming in the Group 1 $1m ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on day one of The Championships at Randwick on April 7.
Trainer Tony McEvoy said that the run took its toll on the filly and her name didn’t appear among the eighteen two year olds nominated for the Champagne Stakes and she will be sent for a spell.
Oohood’s stablemate Aristocratic Miss had also been a contender for the Champagne Stakes but after finishing third in last Saturday’s Listed $150,000 China Horse Club Mile (1600m) at Randwick, McEvoy also left her out of the nominations.
“Oohood, she just didn’t bounce out of the Sires’ as I wanted her so I’ve pulled the pin on her (campaign) and Aristocratic Miss, while she ran very well on Saturday, she didn’t run the mile out so we won’t have a runner this Saturday unfortunately,” McEvoy told racing.com.
Shock ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner El Dorado Dreaming is among the nominations for the Champagne Stakes and her trainer Ben Smith said she has come through the run in great order.
“She’s super, really well. I spoke to the owner (Yvette Pearce) and she’s happy, all going well,” Smith told AAP.
Golden Slipper winning trainers, John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes, have nominated Irukandji and Outrageous.
Irukandji scored at big odds when he won the Group 3 $150,000 The Schweppervescence (1400m) at Rosehill on March 31 while Outrageous is coming off a last start third in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig also have two youngsters among the Champagne Stakes nominations with Long Leaf and Seberate.
Long Leaf was only beaten one and a half lengths when fourth in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes while Seberate was two lengths further down the tack in eleventh position.
Caulfield trainer Mick Price has nominated Seabrook who was a winner three starts back in the Group 2 $200,000 Chandon S Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 3 before running fifth in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 24 and ninth in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
