Eleven fillies remain in the mix for this autumn’s Group 2 $600,000 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) that is set to run as Randwick Race 3 at 12:40pm (AEST) on Day 2 of ‘The Championships’.

The bookies are having a hard time separating the best from the rest with six of the chances at single-figures in the latest Percy Sykes Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Firming favourite at $4 and drawn a treat in gate three for jockey Michael Walker is the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Pure Elation coming off a lead-up Warwick Farm win by two lengths over 1100m.

Before that she raced over this track and distance finishing a narrow second to subsequent Golden Slipper winner Estijaab in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m), form that looks to be franked again on Saturday.

The other best in Percy Sykes Stakes betting leading-up to the weekend include the Chris Waller-trained Fiesta ($6) down in class after a credible seventh in the Golden Slipper and the lightly-raced Cristobal ($6.40) for Godolphin.

So will the favourites salute for the punters or is there value tipping an upset Percy Sykes Stakes result from the likes of Waller’s widely-drawn improver Madam Rouge ($14) or the rails-drawn Outback Barbie ($9) from Queensland?

Our 2018 Percy Sykes Stakes Trifecta Tip is #2 Fiesta from #6 Pure Elation and #12 Madam Rouge

1st

#2 Fiesta ($6)

Going for a slight bit of value with this well-bred I Am Invincible filly from the gun Waller stable. She is a Group 3 winner, hasn’t run worse than third at Randwick (3:0-2-1) and is down in grade after being beaten only three lengths in the Golden Slipper last time out. She had work to do from gate 16 of 16 in the $3.5 million feature, has trialled since to keep her fit and gets the run of the race from barrier two with Kerrin McEvoy continuing associations here.

2nd

#6 Pure Elation ($4)

Favourite cannot be left out of anything. She’s firming and could just come right out and win for the punters. Nice barrier three draw for the grey whose last start win over 1100m was emphatic. Her previous run behind Estijaab at this track / distance was eye-catching and she can keep the wins coming high on confidence and fitness in this.

3rd

#12 Madam Rouge ($14)

Double-figures offered for the other Waller filly in the mix. This daughter of Zoustar has just her third career start and is on her black-type debut. Has an element of class though and carried 58kg to a nice 1000m Warwick Farm win last start. Back to 53kg here and Craig Williams on? A genuine top three hope even from the outside alley.
