Running as the sixth on the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes Day card, this season’s Group 3 $150,000 The Vanity (1400m) features 11 hopefuls due to jump at 3:25pm (AEDT).

The latest The Vanity betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au feature five single-figure fancies led by the easing favourite Aloisia who has drifted out from $2.25 to $3.60 to salute first-up from the outside alley.

Aaron Purcell’s Thousand Guineas – Moonee Valley Vase double winner races for the first time since her sixth as the beaten Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) favourite.

She has winning form over The Vanity track / distance and has trialled once this month ahead of her return where she faces an easier class of rivals than in her latest spring starts.

There is no doubt the favourite has class but it is an open affair in The Vanity odds for a reason with plenty of potential dangers including the undefeated Henry Dwyer-trained Paris Rock ($4.20) in her black-type debut and the market mover Bring Me Roses ($9.50 into $7.50) last seen finishing second in the VRC Oaks.

So can Aloisia salute for the punters or is there value further down the markets tipping an upset The Vanity race result from the likes of James Cummings’ rails-drawn MV Fillies Classic winner Banish ($9)?

Our 2018 The Vanity Trifecta Tip is #3 Banish from #1 Aloisia and #5 Rimraam

1st

#3 Banish ($9)

Good price offered on the rails-drawn Banish, Godolphin’s consistent daughter of Lonhro having her first-up run of the autumn. Stepped-up in class for the last in the spring and was impressive winning the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m). Goes well fresh (3:1-1-1) and has obvious talent. Going from strength to strength and will get things her way from barrier one with Craig Williams in the saddle.

2nd

#1 Aloisia ($3.60)

Obvious favourite just needs to get the run from the barrier and handle the penalty weight. Group 1 winner over a mile and has winning form at Flemington. VRC Oaks loss as the favourite wasn’t disgraceful, easier here fresh over the distance and could take some beating.

3rd

#5 Rimraam ($26)

Best roughie at the blow-out price is the Lindsay Park-trained Commands filly. Top stable when it comes to 3YO fillies and this one has form around the best. Runner-up to subsequent VRC Oaks winner in a Group 3 over 2000m on Caulfield Cup Day before the Wakeful third at Flemington defeated only a quarter-lengths. Just three lengths back when seventh in the Oaks and is a dual runner-up from two starts over Saturday’s distance. Damien Oliver and barrier four – she can challenge and surprise.
