Multiple Group 2 winning sprinter Super Cash will be given a shot at breaking her Group 1 duck heading to the 2018 Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide this May after a short Melbourne autumn campaign.

The Andrew Noblet-trained Written Tycoon mare will be kept fresh for this season’s Group 1 $1 million Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville Racecourse on May 5.
The five-year-old has been tested at elite level five times to date without success, including the unplaced 10th when only four lengths beaten by the winner Secret Agenda in last year’s Robert Sangster Stakes results.
She backed-up from that fresh in mid-October at her home Caulfield track, winning the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) before finishing eighth at big odds in both the Group 1 $1 million Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1200m) at The Valley and the Group 1 $1 million Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington behind The Everest champion Redzel during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Noblet will keep Super Cash lightly-raced this Melbourne Festival of Racing and has scheduled a title defence in the Group 2 $200,000 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on February 10 first-up.
“She had a trial here before she won the Schillaci, and that ended up five weeks [between trial and race],” Noblet told Racing Victoria.
“About three weeks between her trial and first-up run is ideal for her.
“And she’ll hit that Rubiton first-up, she won it last year first-up so hopefully the same again this year.”
Super Cash was ultra-impressive in last autumn’s Rubiton Stakes fresh, defeating I Am A Star (2nd) and Team Hawkes’ heroic stable star Chautauqua (3rd).
This year the reigning champ will likely take on Coolmore Stud Stakes winning colt Merchant Navy on his way to Flemington’s Group 1 $1.25 million Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on Super Saturday.
Super Cash contested that race second-up last year on the back of her Rubiton Stakes victory, but could only manage to run three lengths back eighth to Redkirk Warrior.
All going to plan and Super Cash will be Adelaide-bound after this year’s Rubition for another go at the Robert Sangster Stakes.
“If she comes back as good as she can, we’ll go to the Rubiton – then we’ll probably keep her fresh, go to Adelaide and run her in the Sangster,” Noblet confirmed.
