Sydney racing won’t be the same after Saturday when the inaugural running of the $10 million The Everest (1200m) slot-race sees one horse win $5.8 million for their slot-holder in the $600,000 buy-in event.
The Everest horses are some of the fastest in the nation including two last-start track record holders.
The ‘Grey Flash’ Chautauqua is there looking to add to his three TJ Smith Stakes wins over the track / distance, while money is coming for the former Perth galloper Vega Magic who has the potential to go forward and make it a genuine 1200m showdown.
Betting on The Everest 2017 though is led by the filly She Will Reign who gets the dream run from barrier two chasing her second win on the trot as a three-year-old after the from-behind Moir Stakes (1000m) success at The Valley.
With the country’s biggest prize money on offer it is sure to be a fascinating clash of the speedsters, but who are the genuine contenders and what runners are just there pretending?
Below we’ve summed up the chances of all 12 The Everest Horses based in just two words so you know who to back at the best odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au as history prepares to be made.
