One race after Winx is tipped to post her 21st win on the trot in the meeting’s Group 1 feature, the Group 2 $200,000 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) jumps as Flemington Race 6 at 3:50pm (AEDT).

It is a full field of 16 three-year-old fillies in the mix including the lightly-raced Mick Price-trained emergency Hiyaam who has gained a call-up after the early scratching of Temple Of Bel (1).

All the remaining hopefuls, who could return Saturday week at Caulfield for a shot at the Group 1 $500,000 Thousand Guineas (1600m), come in a barrier and the latest Edward Manifold Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have Leather’n’lace as the hot $3.10 favourite.

There is no doubt the lead-up form of this Darren Weir-trained daughter of Street Cry has been excellent as she has won her last three starts including a three-years-old fillies’ set weights plus penalties clash on September 23 over 1400m by over two lengths.

This is her first Flemington test however and how she handles the straight track and rise to 55.5kg at set weights will be key to her winning chances.

The dangers looking at the Edward Manifold Stakes betting markets include stablemate Anchor Bid ($7) and last start Morphettville Guineas runner-up Bring Me Roses ($12) for the in-form Tony McEvoy.

So will the Weir fillies run the quinella or is there an upset Edward Manifold Stakes result pending from the likes of the Lindsay Park-trained Pure Scot ($13) who looks to be waiting to get out to a mile or the Godolphin-raced Banish ($13) who could also surprise at a mile?

Our 2017 Edward Manifold Stakes Trifecta tip is #3 Anchor Bid from #12 Bring Me Roses and #4 Leather’n’lace

1st

#3 Anchor Bid ($7)

Think the value definitely lies in this one-time VRC Oaks favourite who is the longer-priced of the two Weir fancies after she failed to fire as the beaten odds-on favourite at the track last Wednesday. The High Chaparral filly, on the back of two previous wins, finished five lengths back to Pinot in the Kennedy Oaks Trial (1800m). This could be tougher, but she’s back to a mile and that could see her return to winning form. She’s proven at Flemington (4-1-1-0) and over the mile (2-1-1-0) and that will be a plus against plenty who are up to the distance for the first time. Blinkers come on and she’ll be atoning.

2nd

#12 Bring Me Roses ($12)

Love the double-figures offered on McEvoy’s fellow daughter of High Chaparral who was narrowly beaten for second to Silent Command in the Listed Morphettville Guineas (1600m) on September 9. She’s had a little freshen-up and is at the distance again having her first run outside of SA. She should eat-up the metres and if Flemington proves to be to her liking, she can surprise as the definite improver.

3rd

#4 Leather’n’lace ($3.10)

Deserving favourite, but just think the price is a little too short in a pretty open affair. She is undefeated this time in chasing a fourth win on the trot, and beat a number of these last time out at Caulfield. Stretching out over a mile, gets a pretty awkward barrier and might not be right up on the speed early, but has class. Think she can run the metres and she is a must-include, but there are questions.
