The smart Redoute’s Choice colt is one of 10 new season three-year-olds accepted to face off in Race 7 at the track on Saturday in this year’s Group 3 $150,000 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).
Drawn the outside barrier (10 of 10), Pariah races for the first time since failing to handle a Heavy (10) track at the same course on March 18 when a distant 11th behind She Will Reign in the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m).
Prior to that he was one of the gun two-year-old performers of the Autumn Racing Carnival winning his debut in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill before back-to-back Caulfield seconds including behind Catchy in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).
He has trialled twice in the interim at Randwick leading up to his first-up run on the weekend, his latest hit-out producing an eye-catching second behind the world’s best Winx over 1000m on August 8.
Pariah is one of the key early contenders looking ahead to the Group 1 $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 23.
In futures Golden Rose betting at Ladbrokes.com.au the colt is the $11 third favourite behind Menari ($7) and Kementari ($9).
Pariah is ed in the San Domenico Stakes field by stablemate Taking Aim (barrier 7) who is also first-up on the weekend.
The consistent son of Choisir has finished in the money in all but one of his seven starts so far, the Group 3 winner last seen finishing a brave third to Capital Gain at Doomben on June 10 in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m).
Taking Aim won the Group 3 Ken Russell (1200m) at the Gold Coast first-up last preparation, but is likely to improve on whatever he does this weekend as he extends out over more metres across the spring.
Aside from Pariah the other best fancied three-year-old in the early Golden Rose odds online accepted for a San Domenico Stakes run is Lindsay Park’s exciting filly Tulip.
Melbourne Cup winning hoop Corey Brown has the mount from a favourable inside alley aboard the returning daughter of Pierro on Saturday.
A well-bred and improving filly, Tulip finished fourth in the Blue Diamond Stakes back in late February before her Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) success at Rosehill.
A Golden Slipper Stakes third followed before her latest run on April 1 when fifth to Invader in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).
Tulip has been brought on fitness-wise with a Cranbourne trial on August 8 where she ran a nice second to Formality over 1000m in the mud.
At this stage the David Hayes-led Lindsay Park team have also accepted for Madeenaty in the San Domenico Stakes with Brown also listed as her jockey.
A decision will be made shortly on which of the two represent the stable in Sydney, with both Tulip and Madeenaty also accepted for the $120,000 Johnnie Walker Plate (1200m) at Moonee Valley in Melbourne on the same day.
Unlike Tulip, Exceed and Excel filly Madeenaty has already been tested this time in when she ran second over 1000m at Flemington behind Crown Witness on August 5.
