Myer Classic the Hopeful Target for Silent Sedition

Andrew Noblet is hoping to have stable star Silent Sedition ready for the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) this time in, but is unsure if that will be possible after the rising five-year-old suffered a setback in her preparation.

Silent Sedition has been a strong and consistent performer throughout her entire racing career so far, but undoubtedly reached new heights through the recent Autumn Carnival, where she managed to post a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m).

Noblet told Racing Victoria that ideally he will have Silent Sedition ready to run in the 2017 Myer Classic third or fourth-up, but revealed that she has spent an extra month in the paddock after suffering a foot issue and he is unsure if she will be ready in time.

“We had a small setback with Silent Sedition with her foot so she had an extra month in the paddock and we’ll let her tell us when she’s ready,” Noblet said.

“Hopefully we can get her ready for the Myer but with the setback she’s had that might not be possible.

“She’d need to be at least third or fourth up in a race like that and I would’ve loved to have had her back in work four weeks ago but she had the setback with her foot.”

Silent Sedition immediately stamped herself as a filly to follow upon debuting in the spring of 2015 and has subsequently posted an impressive six wins and nine minors throughout her seventeen career starts.

Finishing second behind Abbey Marie in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) last autumn, Silent Sedition resumed in spring for second in the Group 3 Cape Grim Beef Stakes (1200m), before running third in the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) and winning the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m).

Resuming this year for second in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes (1200m), Silent Sedition returned to winning form in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) and finished second in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) on March 11th, in what was her only other start prior to the William Reid Stakes.
