Kiwi stayer Fanatic has reportedly taken well to her time in Australia so far and is nearing her first trial for the Lindsay Park operation, ahead of a Spring Carnival campaign which will be geared towards Group 1 targets.

Fanatic has been an outstanding performer through the early stages of her racing career and has ed the Lindsay Park stables having posted several impressive results, including a smart win in the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) most notably in 2016.
Breeder-owner Sean Kiernan told the New Zealand Racing Desk that the Shocking mare has enjoyed her time under the care of Hayes, Hayes and Dabernig so far and he is looking forward to seeing how she stacks up against some of the world’s best stayers during the forthcoming Spring Carnival.
“She’s had a couple of gallops and David is very happy with her,” Taranaki breeder-owner Sean Kiernan said.
“She’ll be having a trial in the next 10 days and then we’ll see. I’m leaving it entirely up to David.
“She’s won a Group 1 and Listed-placed so we’ll soon find out what that equates to over in Melbourne.
“With the English raiders coming out for the spring it doesn’t make it easy, but David has got enough good horses to work her with and (we’ll) find out where she sits.
“Hopefully, her level is closer to the top than the bottom.”
Fanatic was set for an appearance in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) last spring, however was scratched only days out from the race after suffering a nasty spider bite.
Fanatic will be included in nominations for both the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup this season and is currently available at early 2017 Melbourne Cup odds of $101 with online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, while she can be taken at a $51 quote to win the Caulfield Cup.
