Queensland-based trainer John Meagher has revealed that stable star Savanna Amour will begin her Melbourne spring campaign in Saturday’s Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse.

A multiple black type winner already, Savanna Amour produced several outstanding performances and result for Meagher through the recent Autumn Carnival; running third in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 25^th.

Having resumed for a single run and win in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) on May 6^th, syndicator Grant Morgan underlined the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) on September 2^nd as the major target for Savanna Amour this time, but is confident that she will run well fresh in the Bletchingly Stakes.

“When we picked out the Memsie as her target it was worth $500,000 and then they boosted it to $1 million, so hopefully that can prove fortuitous for us,” Morgan told the Courier Mail.

“The Memsie will be her Grand Final and we’re hoping a lot of her rivals won’t be as wound up, given they will have other targets later in the spring.

“She’s been wrapped in cotton wool since her Gold Coast win and I think she has improved physically and mentally.”

Savanna Amour has only made nine appearances at the races since making her competitive debut in the winter of 2016, but has already posted four impressive wins and two minors.

Resuming in November for a smart win in the QTIS 3yo Handicap (1110m) at Doomben, the Love Conquers All filly finished midfield in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) on December 10^th before placing seventh in the Inglis Dash (1100m) at Flemington, in what was her only other start prior to the Kevin Hayes Stakes.

Having posted a smart win in a Doomben barrier trial on July 11^th, Savanna Amour is set to face the likes of Supido, Murt The Flirt and resuming champion Lankan Rupee in the Bletchingly Stakes.
