Rain is predicted in Brisbane today starting around lunch meaning there could be a slight downgrade to the current Good (4) Doomben track rating, but nothing to bring it into the mud Eagle Farm conditions that plagued the early stages of the carnival.

Brisbane racing kicks off from 11:20am (AEST), right when the rain is predicted to roll in, with the Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1200m) the first of the nine black-type races on the card.
The meeting is headlined by three Group 1 feature races starting with the two-year-olds facing off in the 2017 JJ Atkins (Race 6) where the Kiwi filly Melody Belle is odds-on favourite.
The 2017 Queensland Derby (Race 7) is next-up featuring a capacity 16 three-year-old stayers including the first two past the post in the SA Derby – Volatile Mix and Ruthven.
The marquee race on the program is of course the Stradbroke Handicap 2017 (Race 8) where the original sixteen starters remain in the hunt including the Kingsford-Smith Cup winner Clearly Innocent carrying top weight from the outside gate.
