2017 Daybreak Lover Field & Odds: Tactical Advantage Favourite

Despite a wide draw the bookies are taking no chances with the in-form James Cummings-trained Tactical Advantage who has opened favourite in the Daybreak Lover 2017 odds for the first at Doomben on Saturday.

Kicking off the bumper nine-race Stradbroke Handicap Day card as Doomben Race 1 at 11:20pm (AEST), this year’s $125,000 Listed James Boag’s Daybreak Lover (1200m) has drawn a stellar line-up of 14 in-form sprinters.

Heading the latest Daybreak Lover betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $3.90 to go back-to-back at the Doomben track is Sydney visitor Tactical Advantage who has work to do from barrier 13.

Jockey Glyn Schofield retains the ride on the in-form Bel Esprit three-year-old whose lead-up run produced a win at the same track and distance in the wet on May 20.

He comes back a kilo to 56kg this weekend and only needs to get the right run from the awkward gate to win again.

The second elect is early market mover All Over Bosanova ($5 into $4.80) coming off a second in the three-years-old set weights race that produces Saturday’s favourite Tactical Advantage.

Mel Eggleston’s Gold Coast-trained Court Command filly was originally a dual Doomben acceptor as the first emergency for the $200,000 Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m).

She would have gained a run against the older mares with Egyptian Symbol coming out in favour of a run in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap field, but Eggleston has opted for the easier option over less distance.

All Over Bosanova should get a gun run in the Daybreak Lover Plate from gate three and her regular rider Luke Rolls is in the saddle again as the filly looks to turn the tables on her last start conqueror.

Just one other runner is currently under double-figures to win the set weights plus penalties race for three-year-olds with the Kiwi raider Heroic Valour at $6.

Opie Bosson stays on the Fastnet Rock colt form across the Tasman who has outstanding 1200m form to date with three wins and a second from four runs over the distance.

He debuted down under on May 6 finishing a close second to Savanna Amour in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m), but gives the weight away this time going up to 60.5kg.

Of the longer priced hopes those with genuine claims at an upset include Stuart Kendrick’s four-time winner at the track Rare Occurrence ($10) drawn well in barrier four, Ringo’s A Rockstar ($12) one wider and Gary Moore’s last start Gold Coast winner Mount Panorama ($12).
