Trainer Chris Waller is happy with the progress his Queensland Oaks 2017 bound filly Dawn Wall has made ahead of Saturday week’s Group 1 following her Gold Coast win earlier this month.

The three-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock enjoyed her fourth career win at start number six when putting one and a half lengths on her closest rival The Pinnacle in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) on May 6.
She missed out on a run at Doomben last weekend in the Group 2 The Roses (2000m), but Waller confirmed the $500,000 Group 1 Treasury Brisbane Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 3 was still on the winter program for Dawn Wall.
“I have been happy with the progress made by Dawn Wall over the past week which included a gallop on Thursday morning on the Gold Coast,” a statement on Friday morning by Waller said.
“It is still our intention to race in the Queensland Oaks on Saturday the 3rd of June and will have two more gallops in preparation for this race.”
Waller won the Queensland Oaks two years ago when the classic ran at Doomben with his now Racing Hall of Fame inductee Winx (2015).
He has another very imposing Oaks contingent ahead of this year’s edition of the mile and a half clash including the current $3.60 favourite in futures betting at Ladbrokes.com.au Egg Tart.
The Sebring filly put the writing on the wall when she beat home Kenedna and Ana Royale, the other two best in pre-field Queensland Oaks odds, in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2010m) in Adelaide on May 6.
Dawn Wall rounds out the current single-figure Queensland Oaks fancies following her stablemate, the SA Fillies Classic winner Ana Royale ($4) and the Darren Weir-trained The Roses winner Kenedna ($4.50) at a quote of $8.
Oklahoma Girl ($10) could also line-up in the Queensland Oaks field for Waller after the improver finished a brave second just a neck beaten in The Roses last Saturday in Brisbane.
Queensland Oaks final acceptances close at 9:00am (AEST) on Wednesday May 31.
