Egg Tart is one of five Waller trained fillies that make up the twenty-four nominations for The Roses which is an important lead up race for the Group 1 $500,000 Treasury Brisbane Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 3.

Waller’s other fillies nominated for The Roses are last start Gold Coast Bracelet winner Dawn Wall and fourth placegetter Invincibella as well as Oklahoma Girl and Cross Stitch.

Egg Tart will be on a Queensland Oaks mission after jockey Kerrin McEvoy guided her to victory in the Group 1 $500,000 Schweppes Oaks (ed as Australasian Oaks) (2000m) at Morphettville on May 6, giving champion trainer Chris Waller his first winner and first Group 1 winner in Adelaide.

“This is Chris’s first winner here so it’s nice to be getting good rides for Chris,” McEvoy said after the Australasian Oaks win.

Kenedna was beaten a nose by Egg Tart in the Australasian Oaks and the Darren Weir trained filly is also among the nominations for The Roses.

Prior to her last start second to Egg Tart, Kenenda had won twice at Morphettville in the Listed $110,000 See South Australia Laelia Stakes (1600m) on April 8 and in the Group 3 $120,000 Schweppervescence Stakes (ed as Auraria Stakes) (1800m) on April 22.

The Steven O’Dea trained filly Candika has strong local form with a win two starts back in the Listed $100,000 Princess Stakes (1600m) at Doomben on April 22 followed by a third to Dawn Wall in the Listed $125,000 Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) at the Gold Coast on May 6.

The in-form Team Snowden stable has only one filly nominated for The Roses, The Pinnacle, who has continued to improve with racing and heads to Doomben after running second to Dawn Wall in the Gold Coast Bracelet.

Brisbane leading trainer Tony Gollan also has only one filly nominated for The Roses with Lipstick Lover who will be stepping up sharply in class after winning a 1600m three year old Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on May 7.
