Rounding out the Gold Coast card as Race 8 at 4:16pm (AEST) on Saturday afternoon, this season’s $125,000 Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) is a wide open affair.

Of the sixteen three-year-olds in the mix for the early Queensland Winter Racing Carnival showdown, current Gold Coast Guineas betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au have seven under $10 for the win.

At a quote of $6.50, the early favourite drawn in gate seven with Hugh Bowman to ride is Sydney visitor Tactical Advantage chasing his first win since posting four on the trot during the summer.

The Bel Esprit gelding was last seen finishing eighth to Derryn in the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) at Randwick on April 8, but is tipped to enjoy an easier run here upon the speed in lower grade company.

Equal $7 second elects are the widely-drawn Attention and Heroic Valour who both need luck from their double-digit barriers.

The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Attention has Jeff Lloyd aboard this weekend, the Stratum colt looking to atone for his unplaced Flemington run in early March behind Hey Doc in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m).

The youngster hasn’t won a race since he took out the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben last winter and will only improve on what he does here getting out over further distance.

Heroic Valour is an intriguing addition to this season’s Gold Coast Guineas field, the Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards-trained Kiwi raider having his first run down under.

A nicely-bred son of Fastnet Rock, the New Zealand-based colt has won four of his 10 career runs back home and was last seen finishing under a length away fourth behind Start Wondering in the Group 1 NRM Sprint (1400m) in February.

He has a Sydney trial behind him leading up to Saturday and is undefeated over the 1200m having won all three of his starts over the distance, and also performs well fresh with a smart first-up record of two wins and a second from three starts.

The next best in Gold Coast Guineas betting is the early market mover Savanna Amour ($8 into $7.50), the John Meagher-trained Love Conquers All filly taking on the boys on the back of a strong Melbourne autumn campaign.

After a third in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) on February 11 at Caulfield, the Brisbane-trained filly returned to the track on Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes Day and enjoyed a narrow victory in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m).

She is down in grade here and drawn well in barrier six taking on the boys off a freshen-up and is another three-year-old who runs well fresh.

Rounding out the single-figure Gold Coast Guineas fancies this season are the Les Ross-trained filly River Racer ($8.50) who has plenty of form around this class of rivals, recent Gosford Guineas runner-up I Thought So ($9) and the John O’Shea-trained Tessera ($9.50).
