2017 Doncaster Mile Odds & Betting Update

A talented and capacity field of twenty, as well as three emergencies has been confirmed for Saturday’s featured 2017 Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick; offering punters plenty of value from a betting perspective.

Le Romain has returned to racing in career-best form this season and is the sole occupant of the top line of 2017 Doncaster Mile betting with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au at a generous $6 quote, or $7.50 in the lucrative Enhanced Odds market.

Breaking through for a maiden win at the highest level when he defeated Press Statement in last year’s edition of the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), Le Romain continued to impress throughout a consistent spring campaign which peaked with an impressive win in the Group 1 Cantala Stakes (1600m).

Resuming this year for a smart win in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m), the Hard Spun gelding stormed home to beat Chautauqua on the line in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m), before finishing a gallant second to Winx in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) a fortnight ago.

Drawn ideally in barrier 8, Le Romain will be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman and will carry 56.5kgs in the Doncaster Mile.

Neither Hauraki nor McCreery are yet to herald much interest in 2017 Doncaster Mile betting markets, but the pair remain tied on the second line at $8.50 quotes.

Hauraki was placed several times at the highest level of racing through his early racing preparations, but was unable to break through for an elusive win.

Resuming in spring for an impressive win in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m), the Reset gelding placed second behind Winx in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) before flying home late to win the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m).

Failing to handle the conditions when eighth in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) before ending his year second in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (2000m), Hauraki resumed this time for third in the Canterbury Stakes before working to the line well for fourth in the George Ryder Stakes.

Hauraki will enjoy improved track conditions at Randwick on Saturday and will be partnered by James Doyle.

McCreery announced himself to the greater Australian racing community when he won the Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) at Hawkesbury on August 18th, before repeating the effort in the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) on September 10th.

Running sixth in the Epsom Handicap, McCreery was returned to the paddock after he ran on for second behind Le Romain in the Cantala Stakes.

Having resumed for a smart win in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) on February 25th, the Big Bad Bob gelding failed to handle the heavy conditions late in the George Ryder Stakes at finished fifth.

The likes of Tosen Stardom ($18), Redkirk Warrior ($11), I Am A Star ($14) and Spectroscope ($13) all represent terrific value in 2017 Doncaster Mile betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
