Just nine stayers take to the track in Rosehill Race 5 at 3:00pm (AEDT) on Saturday in the $350,000 Group 3 Sky High Stakes (2000m).

Updated Sky High Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au – who are also offering the best all-in markets for next month’s Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) – are firmly led by the Chris Waller-trained Antonio Giuseppe ($1.90).

The progressive Shocking four-year-old is bred to stay and is odds-in in Sky High Stakes betting for a reason.

He has won six of his ten career runs to date and finished runner-up in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) last October.

First-up the gelding won over 1500m at Rosehill Gardens under 59kg and second-up he’ll be fitter and flying with just 55kg on his back, out to retain top spot in all-in Sydney Cup betting 2017.

Stablemate Who Shot Thebarman ($9.50) also looks a top three chance for the stable, while the Crown Oaks winning filly Lasqueti Spirit ($9) and market mover Red Excitement ($8) round out the single-figure hopes.

So is Antonio Giuseppe as sure a thing as his price suggests or is there value further down the Sky High Stakes markets from the likes of last autumn’s Australian Derby winner Tavago ($11) or the John O’Shea-trained Rosehill specialist Allergic ($13)?

Our 2017 Sky High Stakes Trifecta Tip is #6 Lasqueti Spirit from #9 Antonio Giuseppe and #3 Tavago

1st

#6 Lasqueti Spirit ($9)

The form around this Lee Curtis-trained Beneteau filly is hard to really gauge, but happy to give her a go to prove the Crown Oaks all-the-way success from the spring over Yankee Rose was no fluke. Apollo Stakes last first-up as a $151 roughie before catching the eye second-up when runner-up to Winx also at triple figures in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes. Arguments that her run was only because of the bottomless track that day, but think in this open field with the right run against horses that are heading into a two mile Group 1 she is a winning hope.

2nd

#9 Antonio Giuseppe ($1.90)

Odds-on and the 55kg light-weight makes him a massive danger. Won four on the trot last time in and the Rosehill win first-up was eye-catching. He goes into this fitter and steps up to 2000m. Might need just one more run before this distance? Undefeated at Rosehill (4-4) however and so he’s at his pet track as the clear favourite with no kilos.

3rd

#3 Tavago ($11)

ATC Derby winning Kiwi expat from last autumn comes off a fifth in the Chipping Norton at big odds. He’ll be better second-up over more metres here. Pretty open affair outside the odds-on fancy and think this galloper has class at a good price for a top three performance.
