Trainer Gary Portelli is confident that She Will Reign can continue her unbeaten career when she returns to racing in Saturday’s 2017 Silver Slipper (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens.

She Will Reign has more than stamped herself as a filly to follow through her short but impressive two-start career so far and currently sits on the top line of early 2017 Golden Slipper betting after dominant four length win in the Inglis Classic (1000m) most recently on December 17th.
Portelli told AAP that the Manhattan Rain filly will be put through her paces alongside stable mate Straturbo on Tuesday, before taking her place in the 2017 Silver Slipper Stakes field on Saturday afternoon.
“I think she looks like a horse who will run over more ground but so far she’s been brilliant over short courses,” Portelli said.
“She jumps and runs and we thought we might try to harness her speed but it didn’t work in the trial.
“If she is to be a genuine Golden Slipper contender she has to win over further.
“She will have a gallop with Straturbo on Tuesday morning. He is a very fast horse and might be able to test her.
“But despite her speed she has the best attitude. She is so laid back and doesn’t get worked up at all.
“She just goes out and runs fast.”
Trialling well in the lead-up to her competitive debut, She Will Reign immediately announced herself to the Australian racing community when she debuted for a near-nine length win in the Festive Season Maiden Handicap (1000m) on December 10th, in what was her only start prior to the Inglis Nursery.
The 2017 Silver Slipper field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
