Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott’s dual Group 1 winner Global Glamour suffered a blow in her bid to stop odds-on favourite Winning Rupert from taking out the 2017 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas drawing out wide for the Gold Coast feature.

A capacity field of sixteen starters plus five emergencies are engaged for this weekend’s $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).
The official Magic Millions 3YO Guineas barrier draw took place live from Surfers Paradise on Tuesday morning and Global Glamour has work to do from the second widest alley on Saturday.
She is tipped as the only three-year-old to give the undefeated favourite Winning Rupert a run for his money, but has eased out post-barriers in Magic Millions Guineas betting at Ladbrokes.com.au.
The Flight Stakes – Thousand Guineas winning daughter of Star Witness, to be ridden by Tim Clark, is out to $5.50 to return to winning form after a luckless first-up ninth over 1200m at Eagle Farm on New Year’s Eve.
All the money in the updated Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds is on Bjorn Baker’s Written Tycoon colt Winning Rupert who is set to get things his way this weekend from a gun barrier six draw.
He could jump from five if the second emergency Billy The Kid (1) fails to gain a run and has Jeff Lloyd retaining the ride.
Lloyd has been aboard Winning Rupert for all five career runs so far producing five impressive wins, the latest of which was a three length effort in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) on December 31.
No other horse in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas field is at single-figures for the win with the next best in betting being Eckstein ($14) and Arbeistam ($18) drawn in barriers 10 and eight respectively.
Kurt Goldman’s I Am Invincible filly Eckstein from Goulburn chases a fifth straight win after a string of nice runs including a Listed Mode Plate (1200m) Eagle Farm win two back and a narrow 1200m Gold Coast victory last Saturday.
Arbeistam represents is the other Waterhouse & Bott-trained runner in the race, the son of Snitzel last seen saluting by a smart three and a quarter-lengths over 1400m at Warwick Farm on January 7.
Other chances drawn well for the Gold Coast Magic Millions Guineas this Queensland Summer Racing Carnival include: the consistent Tony Gollan-trained Captain Sonador filly Tiyatrolani (2), Lindsay Park’s Wyong Magic Millions Stakes third placegetter Dam Ready (3) and the Les Ross-trained Vo Rogue runner-up River Racer (4).
