Two stakes’ races headline the Boxing Day racing action on Monday in Melbourne including the $120,000 Listed Lord Stakes (1700m).

The handicap clash attracted 15 early entries at nomination stage on Tuesday including Snippetson seven-year-old Kenjorwood.

The veteran was last seen winning over the Flemington mile last Saturday and if accepted for the Lord Stakes will be returning to the Caulfield track for the first time since his 13th to Lucky Hussler in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) back in 2015.

He has won two from four at the course however, is in top end-of-year form and has an outstanding record at the distance (3-2-0-1).

Weir has also nominated for his out-of-form stayer Cadillac Mountain and the consistent Warrnambool Cup winner Master Of Arts.

A five-year-old Mastercraftsman stallion, Master Of Arts won back-to-back Flemington races over staying distances in the winter before an eye-catching first-up run at the same track on December 10.

In his resuming run over 1400m the stallion finished under two lengths away fourth to Snoopy in a handicap carrying 58kg, Master Of Arts to enjoy the step-up in distance on Monday if accepted into the Lord Stakes field.

Another in-form galloper in the mix is the Lindsay Park-trained Hell Or Highwater who has won four of her past five starts.

The progressive four-year-old Not A Single Doubt mare chases a third consecutive win after victories at Moonee Valley (1600m) and Flemington (1700m) this summer.

The latest saw her cart 56kg to a narrow win on December 10 with Group 1 winning hoop Dean Yendall aboard, while her latest Caulfield run produced a good win over the mile under 58kg back in October.

The stable could also be represented in the Lord Stakes this season by stablemate Mihany who has also been in top form this campaign.

The Redoute’s Choice five-year-old won over the Pakenham mile by a runaway 3.25 lengths on December 3 before a third to Kenjorwood at Flemington last weekend.

Loyalty Man is another last start winner in contention, the Michael Moroney-trained Fastnet Rock four-year-old having saluted on November 25 in the Wodonga Cup (1590m) for his fifth career win at start number 14.

See below for the full Lord Stakes 2016 nominations, final acceptances closing on Thursday with betting at Ladbrokes.com.au to open shortly after.
