2017 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas Aim For Miss Wonderland

Lightly-raced Melbourne filly Miss Wonderland will be aimed at the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2017 on the Gold Coast next month according to her trainer Ciaron Maher.

The promising daughter of Snitzel has had just the two career starts to date including a win on debut by six lengths at Pakenham over 1200m back in June.

From there she returned to racing on Oaks Day at Flemington and caught the eye crossing third to Spright in the Group 3 Red Roses Stakes (1100m).

That effort confirmed her Caulfield-based trainer Maher’s high opinion of her and he is looking ahead to the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) on January 14 for Miss Wonderland.

Maher believes Miss Wonderland has improved further since her Crown Oaks Day success and was set for another run at Flemington on December 17.

“She’ll run in an 1100m fillies’ race at Flemington and then go to Sydney with the view to having her pretty right for the Gold Coast,” he told Racing Victoria.

“She’s a high-quality horse and although she’s only had the two runs she was dominant first time out and I thought she was super at Flemington on Oaks Day when her coat wasn’t really there.

“We’ve since given her a couple of weeks at our property at Pakenham and she’s really come on and cleaned up in the coat and looks in great order.”

Pre-field Magic Millions 3YO Guineas odds are already open at Ladbrokes.com.au with Miss Wonderland listed as a $15 chance.

The all-in Magic Millions Guineas betting markets for the Gold Coast feature are led by Winning Rupert ($3.40) and Global Glamour ($3.80).

Bjorn Baker’s Sydney-trained Written Tycoon colt Winning Rupert won the $100,000 McInnes Wilson Lawyers QTIS Three-Years-old Colts & Geldings Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm over the weekend.

He remains undefeated with three wins from as many starts all in Queensland including also the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben during the winter.

Global Glamour meanwhile is prepared by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and is a dual Group 1 winner.

The Star Witness filly beat home Yankee Rose in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) before her first interstate trip to Melbourne in October where she took out the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m).
