2016 Angst Stakes Betting Tips & Update

The only other Group race on Saturday’s Spring Champion Stakes Day card in Sydney is the Angst Stakes 2016, betting tips for the Randwick mares’ only showdown found below.

Due to run as Randwick Race 8 at 4:50pm (AEDT), this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m) field is down to 11 runners after the early scratching of Sprit Bird (4).

Three mares are now battling for favouritism in the updated Angst Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au with Extensible ($3.40), Dixie Blossoms ($3.60) and market mover Lady Le Fay ($3.80) hard to split.

Peter & Paul Snowden’s five-year-old Extensible comes off the smart 1400m Rosehill win, Dixie Blossoms ran second in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) last time out, while Lady Le Fay represents Sydney’s best Chris Waller.

So will the top three in betting be the first three over the line or is there value tipping an upset Angst Stakes result this Sydney Spring Racing Carnival from the likes of the rails-drawn Rocket Commander ($13) or Happy Hannah ($12) in a gun barrier three draw second-up?

Our 2016 Angst Stakes Trifecta Tip is #9 Happy Hannah from #7 Dixie Blossoms and #4 Lady Le Fay

1st

#9 Happy Hannah ($12)

Great price for this Team Snowden smoky who is drawn ideally in gate three with Brenton Avdulla riding the More Than Ready four-year-old second-up. She is undefeated over the mile (2-2-0-0) and will appreciate the extra metres after the sixth to Extensible over 200m shorter first-up. She is also Group 1 placed over 2000m in the Vinery Stud Stakes back in March beaten only a length and has the class to win her own Group 3.

2nd

#7 Dixie Blossoms ($3.60)

If going the Sydney form that around this Ron Quinton-trained Street Sense four-year-old is solid. She has two Group 3 seconds from three runs this campaign, the latest behind Tycoon Tara in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m). She goes up to a mile for the first time since March and did a good job over the distance then. Ready to peak, Tim Clark on again and well weighted at set weights plus penalties.

3rd

#5 Lady Le Fay ($3.80)

Money coming in for Waller’s Thorn Park six-year-old who is against her own kind second-up after the close fifth when only a length off the winner Sons Of John in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie (1400m) three weeks back. She’ll be better back against the mares over a mile, her pet distance (6-3-0-2) and was eye-catching second up last time in.
