Undefeated colt Russian Revolution ($2.30) has continued to firm in favouritism for success and currently occupies the top line of 2016 Vain Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Artie Dee Two ($4.40), Highland Beat and Hardham; currently tied on the third line at $9 quotes.

Will Russian Revolution justify favouritism and win the Vain Stakes, or will one of his rivals post a big upset?

1st

Russian Revolution ($2.30)

Russian Revolution is yet to taste anything but success through a short but impressive career so far, is drawn ideally in barrier 4 and has the luxury of being a Peter & Paul Snowden-trained colt running in Melbourne; a particularly potent combination of late. Taking out the Schweppes Maiden Handicap (1100m) on debut in June, the Snitzel colt repeated the dose in the Can Assist Volunteers Plate (1200m) last time out on June 25th and has trialled particularly well in the lead-up to his Spring Carnival campaign. In-form hoop Mark Zahra takes the ride, and Russian Revolution will have no issue performing to a high standard with only 55kgs in tow.

2nd

Highland Beat ($9)

Highland Beat produced a number of standout results for Lindsay Park through the recent Autumn Carnival, and the colt arguably represents the best value for money at current $9 Vain Stakes odds, or $2.65 to finish in the first three. Posting two wins and a further four minors through nine career starts, the Exceed And Excel colt ran second to Extreme Choice in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) in early February but failed to make anything of an impact in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m). Responding well for second in the Robert Taranto Handicap (1100m) and success in the Toronado @ Swettenham Handicap (1200m), Highland Beat has not been seen at the races since running second in the Listed Thoroughbred Club Cup (1200m) on April 30th.

3rd

Artie Dee Two ($4.40)

Artie Dee Two is another runner that is yet to taste defeat, but the colt undoubtedly faces his biggest career task to date in the Vain Stakes on Saturday. Taking out the William Hill Maiden Plate (1200m) on debut on June 3rd, the Artie Schiller colt repeated the dose in the Friends Of Epworth 2.y.o Handicap (1200m) on June 18th. Artie Dee Two should receive a good run in transit from barrier 1 and will be partnered by exciting young hoop Harry Coffey.
