The Align five-year-old comes off back-to-back seconds in Brisbane and is out to go one better on Tattersall’s Tiara Day in the $100,000 Listed AM Giles & Co Chartered ants Open Handicap (1830m).
The Tattersall’s Open field features 11 stayers this season and is set to run as Eagle Farm Race 4 at 12:42pm (AEST) on Saturday.
Sitting top of the line-up and Tattersall’s Open weights with 58kg, Pajaro shoots for his first win since the Listed Scone Cup (1600m) three starts back in mid-May.
Since then he has finished second to Mighty Lucky and Hopfgarten respectively in the Group 3 Lord Mayors Cup (1615m) at Doomben and the Listed The Wayne Wilson Mile (1600m) at Eagle Farm on Stradbroke Handicap Day a fortnight ago.
In The Wayne Wilson Pajaro carried 57kg and so goes up a kilo on the weekend, but should enjoy the step up in distance and has Blake Shinn retaining the ride.
The rest of the field all get in on the 54.5kg minimum, weights raised a half kilo.
The sole last start winner in the mix is the Stewart Mackinnon-trained eight-year-old My Quilter from the Sunshine Coast who gets the inside run from barrier one.
A veteran of 64 starts, the warhorse won at his home track last Sunday over the mile carting 57kg to victory and will relish the step back in weights coming to Eagle Farm on the quick back-up.
Drawn the opposite end of the field out in barrier 11 but with time to overcome the gate is the Shawn Mathrick-trained Adirondack.
A dual winner from four starts over Saturday’s distance, the Lonhro five-year-old was third in the Listed Wagga Wagga Cup (2000m) on May 6 before a last start fifth at Morphettville in the Listed Port Adelaide Cup (2500m).
Chris Waller has also accepted for his Mossman mare Telepathic who was originally nominated for the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) along with her Queensland Guineas winning stablemate Tsaritsa.
The Group 2 winning filly Tsaritsa misses the Group 1 in favour for the $125,000 Listed Daybreak Lover (1400m) on Saturday, while Telepathic is also a non-acceptor for the Tiara running in the Tattersall’s Open instead.
She jumps from barrier five with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle and is out to atone for a last start ninth behind Cradle Me in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm when beaten four lengths.
