Thirteen sprinters will line up for Saturday’s 2016 Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich Racecourse; highlighted by the inclusion of some of Queensland’s standout short course specialists, as well as a couple of notable interstate raiders.

Ninth Legion has drawn ideally into the Eye Liner Stakes field in barrier 5, but has been charged with overcoming a race-high 59kgs in the sprint feature.
A notable performer amongst Group 1 company several times through an impressive racing career, Ninth Legion has claimed six wins and a further ten minors through forty-one competitive starts.
Yet to make much of an impact in two starts for Peter Robl, the son of Fastnet Rock will relish a step-back in class to Brisbane racing in the Eye Liner Stakes and should enjoy the conditions of the Eye Liner Stakes.
Steel Zip was scratched from the field of last weekend’s Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m) at Eagle Farm, and will leave from the ideal barrier 2 this weekend after being confirmed in the 2016 Eye Liner Stakes field.
The stable star of Deagon-based trainer Pat Duff, Steel Zip has claimed eleven wins and eighteen minors through seventy career starts since debuting to competition in 2010.
Winning the Listed Keith Noud Quality (1350m) and finishing third in the Magic Millions Plate (1300m) most notably in a brief summer campaign, Steel Zip has trialled particularly well in the lead-up to his Eye Liner Stakes return.
Liam Birchley will launch a two-pronged attack on the Listed race after confirming both Time To Plunder and Beckham in the Eye Liner Stakes field.
Time To Plunder was kept to a light preparation in 2015, and has found competitive form through two starts so far this time.
Running fifth in the Designers Decks & Patios Handicap (1000m) on May 15th, the Holy Roman Emperor gelding ran on for a credible sixth in the Listed Lightning Handicap (1050m) on June 8th.
Beckham carries winning form into the Eye Liner Stakes after taking out the Led Super Screens BM85 (1350m) on May 14th, but has been charged with overcoming the outsider barrier.
Posting an impressive five wins and four minors through only eighteen career starts so far, the Pins entire has been confirmed to be partnered by Tegan Harrison and should have no problem performing to a high standard in the Eye Liner Stakes with only 54kgs in tow.
