Godolphin runner Alucinari carries winning form into the Juanmo Stakes and remains a generous $7 favourite in betting markets for success with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Sultry Feeling ($7.50) and Tina Melina ($8.50).
Will Alucinari continue her unbeaten run of form this time through the Juanmo Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?
1st
Alucinari ($7)
The depth of quality confirmed in the Juanmo Stakes field means there’s plenty of value to be taken advantage of, including race favourite Alucinari. Finishing outside the first three only a handful of times through eleven career starts, Alucinari trialled well in the lead-up to her return this time and immediately produced a career best effort to date for success in the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100m) at Scone on May 14th. While drawn somewhat awkwardly in barrier 15, Alucinari will be partnered by leading Godolphin hoop James McDonald.
2nd
Tina Melina ($8.50)
The Tony Gollan-trained Tina Melina is a proven performer at the class and distance, is drawn ideally in barrier 1 and has been charged with carrying only 56.5kgs in the Juanmo Stakes on Saturday. Capping an impressive summer campaign with success in the Listed Nudgee Handicap (1200m) on January 23rd, the daughter of Jet Spur clearly needed a run when ninth in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) first-up but responded with a smart run for fourth in the Listed Bright Shadow Quality (1200m) a fortnight ago.
3rd
Miss Tenpins ($11)
A runner from the in-form Bjorn Baker stable, Miss Tenpins has steadily built to the task this time and appears primed to hit peak condition in the 2016 Juanmo Stakes. Resuming for second in the talent-rich TAB.com.au BM85 (1100m) on April 23rd, the Pins mare progressed to fifth in the Silk Stocking before attacking the line for third in the Bright Shadow Quality last time out. Sure to find a good position off pace from barrier 11, Miss Tenpins will be partnered by in-form hoop Jeff Lloyd this weekend.
