Seven of the day’s eight races will be contested at black type level, highlighted by the featured Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) which has attracted a particularly classy field of ten.
2016 Doomben Cup Day officially gets underway with the running of the Listed Chief De Beers Quality (1050m) at 12:10pm local time, and will conclude with the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350m) for three-year-olds at 4:35pm.

Nine sprinters will line up for the time-honoured Chief De Beers Stakes first-up on 2016 Doomben Cup Day, before the day’s only non-black type race in contest; the Hebert Smith Freehills BM85 (2000m).
The Listed Hampden Stakes (1200m) and Listed Bright Shadow Handicap (1200m) have each drawn talented fields of short course specialists, while the Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) at 2:41pm offers its winner ballot-free entry into the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Eagle Farm on June 11th.
The Group 2 The Roses (2000m) has drawn a capacity field of three-year-old fillies targeting the Queensland Oaks in a fortnight, while the Fred Best Classic will cap the day’s action following the running of the Doomben Cup.
