A final field of a dozen sprinters is accepted to face off in the Hall Mark Stakes 2016 at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney this weekend including the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Charlie Boy chasing back-to-back wins at the track.

Set to run as Randwick Race 6 at 3:05pm (AEDT), this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) has four last start winners in the mix including Charlie Boy who wears the number one saddlecloth.
He carries the 58.5kg top weight in the set weights plus penalties clash and is drawn well in barrier four.
Last start he improved on his spring form to win the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Randwick in late February from barrier one, and has trialled well since when third to Group 1 winning filly Speak Fondly over 1050m at the track.
The Snowdens have also accepted for That’s A Good Idea (barrier nine), the Flying Spur six-year-old racing for the first time since December.
The inside run from barrier one on Saturday belongs to the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Fast ‘N’ Rocking who is down in class having his first non-Group 1 start since October.
His five latest runs have all been in elite level company across three starts and include a Winterbottom Stakes third to Buffering in Perth last November, a fourth in the William Reid Stakes behind Flamberge when beaten under a length in late March and his last start eighth to Chautauqua in the TJ Smith Stakes on Day 1 of ‘The Championships’.
In the TJ Smith Stakes five-year-old Fast ‘N’ Rocking was beaten under five lengths as a $51 shot, but is sure to be at shorter odds against easy company this weekend as he looks for his first top three finish from six runs at Randwick.
Second-up off a good resuming run this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival is the Joe Pride-trained Nadeem gelding Target In Sight who has won three from seven at the course.
In his first start since last winter, the six-year-old was second past the post behind Malaguerra in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on March 26, the winner of that race running in the $600,000 Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) this weekend.
Fifth in the same lead-up was All American four-year-old Bachman, the Gerald Ryan-trained sprinter another Hall Mark Stakes acceptor on Saturday drawn wide again in barrier 10 for his hoop Kerrin McEvoy.
Gai Waterhouse’s Golden Rose runner-up and Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) winner from the spring, Speak Fondly is another big name runner in this year’s Hall Mark field.
The Northern Meteor filly returned to racing on March 5 when ninth of 10 runners behind stablemate English in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), but should improve second-up.
She is after her third win from as many second-up starts, comes off the winning Randwick trial she blitzed by over five lengths and boasts an outstanding record at the track of three wins and a third from five runs.
Other notable hopes include the progressive Medaglia D’Oro four-year-old Federal for the Godolphin stable and the consistent My Favourite who is very lightly-raced for a six-year-old with five wins and three seconds from nine career runs.
