Exciting filly Petits Filous has kept her unbeaten record intact at Flemington this afternoon; producing an impressive late turn of foot to pull clear of a classy field and win the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m).

Petits Filous eased in 2015 Cap D’Antibes Stakes markets in the minutes leading up to jump, but the three-year-old appeared on track for success from the outset when jumping from the gates well and immediately being led to the fore of the field by champion hoop Damien Oliver.
Settling into a good rhythm on pace, Petits Filous allowed Take Pride to stride forward but continued to stalk the filly before immediately responding when asked for an extra effort by Oliver in the last 300m; pulling clear to hit the line close to three lengths in the clear of Super Cash; Take Pride boxing on for third.
Oliver delivered a typically brilliant ride aboard the daughter of Street Boss for success in the Cap D’Antibes Stakes and was quick to lay all the praise on the talented filly and trainer efforts of Ciaron Maher.
“She’s pure quality, she rates right up there with the best of them,” Oliver said after the race.
“She’s got electrifying brilliance and you’ve just got to spend most of the race trying to get her to relax.
“She flew the gates today and she did come back better today, relaxed a bit but then quickened when I wanted her – she’s all class.
“Sometimes it’s better to get a little cover down the straight but it certainly posed no problems for her, to only concern was having to turn left at the end of it!
“She hasn’t let us down yet and when you ask she responds like a really top horse and she’s got a lot of quality about her.”
Maher was pleased with Petits Filous’ performance in the 2015 Cap D’Antibes Stakes and believes the filly has continued to improve noticeably through each of her four competitive starts so far.
“She just keeps taking the next step,” Maher said.
“Down the straight you never really know how they’re going to handle it but she looked like she settled a bit better today.
“She was quite prominent in the race but Damien looked like he had her travelling well and she put them away pretty easy.
“She looks like she’s learnt every start.”
Maher has not set a specific plan for Petits Filous through the 2015 Spring Carnival, but revealed the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) down the Flemington straight on October 31st may figure if her times warrant a berth.
“We’ve paid up a late nom for the Blue Sapphire just to give us that option,” Maher said.
“If the times are pretty quick here today we might map a plan into the Coolmore.”
