There are nine female gallopers making up the field for Saturday’s $125,000 Group 3 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) including Peter & Paul Snowden’s super consistent daughter of Lonhro Bounding.
The five-year-old has an imposing record of eight wins and six seconds from 15 starts and comes into the Sheraco Stakes on the back of a first-up win in the Group 3 The Heath 1100 (1100m) at Caulfield from August 29.
She was last seen in Sydney back in April last year and is dominating Sheraco Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $1.90, in from $1.95, to salute in her maiden Rosehill run.
There are just two other runners in the mix under $10 to score an upset Sheraco Stakes result defeating Bounding with Catkins ($3.90) and Peeping ($8.50).
Chris Waller’s defending Sheraco Stakes winner Catkins won the race first-up last year, her latest victory being in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) in late March also at Rosehill.
To date the six-year-old Dubawi grey has had 14 starts at the track for an impressive eight wins, three seconds and a third with Catkins last seen running sixth to Srikandi in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at the Gold Coast on June 20.
Peeping will get the run of the race in barrier two with Sam Clipperton in the saddle, Ron Quinton’s Redoute’s Choice four-year-old coming off a victory over the classy Howmuchdoyouloveme over 1200m at Rosehill on August 15.
That victory retained her undefeated status at Rosehill where she also won the Listed Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) back in March, Clipperton aboard for all eight of her starts including her four wins.
At more generous odds but not without a chance in the Sheraco this Sydney Spring Racing Carnival are the Gai Waterhouse-trained Stratum four-year-old Echo Gal ($13), last start Group 3 James Carr winner at Randwick in April Slightly Sweet ($14) and Bede Murray’s returning Good Journey mare Fine Mist ($15).
Echo Gal won at Randwick in early August before a second to Amicus in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1300m) two weeks later.
She disappointed last time out however when 11th to Vergara beaten over seven lengths in the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) at Wyong, an effort she’ll be out to improve on this Saturday at Rosehill shooting for her first top three finish at the track.
The Jason Coyle-trained Charge Forward four-year-old Slightly Sweet has also had two runs but no wins at Rosehill, but she has won four of her eight starts including two Group 3 victories at other Sydney tracks.
Fine Mist jumps from barrier eight on Saturday with apprentice Winona Costin in the saddle first-up, the four-year-old having won one of her two other first-up runs so far and her only other start at Rosehill.
Her last run was at Scone back in mid-May where she crossed a nose back for second to In A Wink in black-type company, an effort she’ll be looking to repeat fresh on Saturday.
