A talented field of nine has been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m) at Belmont Racecourse, highlighted by the inclusion of some of Western Australia’s standout thoroughbreds and representing excellent value from a betting perspective.

Fuchsia Bandana ($3.20) has returned to racing in typically competitive form this time and has maintained status as outright favourite in 2015 Hyperion Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Shining Knight ($3.50) and Balmont Girl ($4).
Will Fuchsia Bandana justify favouritism and win the 2015 Hyperion Stakes or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?
1st
Balmont Girl ($4)
A strong and consistent performer for Paula Wagg since first debuting in 2012, Balmont Girl will need luck in running from the outside gate in the 2015 Hyperion Stakes but represents great value for money at current $4 odds for success. Finishing outside the first three only a handful of times through 23 career starts, the daughter of Balmont won the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) on November 1st; progressing to second behind Elite Belle in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) before again finishing second in the Listed WA St Leger (2100m). Having returned for fifth in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) on May 30th, Balmont Girl will relish a return to a mile and will be hard to beat in the Hyperion Stakes.
2nd
Bass Strait ($5)
Bass Strait has posted four wins and a further five minors through 30 career starts and has undoubtedly found career-best form to date over the last 12 months. Taking out the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m) at the beginning of a strong summer campaign, the Holy Roman Emperor gelding ran a credible sixth in each of the Railway Stakes and Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) before being edged out and third in the Group 2 CB Cox Stakes. Having returned for fourth in the Belmont Sprint, Bass Strait is sure to have taken condition from the hit-out.
3rd
Fuchsia Bandana ($3.20)
Finishing outside the first three only four times in eighteen career starts, Fuchsia Bandana is yet to return to winning form this time in but if offered a great chance of doing just that from barrier 2 and with just 57kgs. Running third in the Group 3 Roma Cup (1200m) first-up on May 16th, the Trade Fair mare again finished just off the pace in third in the Belmont Sprint and looks good for a similar result in the Hyperion Stakes.
