All the money on course and online through Ladbrokes.com.au before the jump in this year’s $100,000 Listed Landfill Logistics Ascot Handicap (1200m) was on the Liam Birchely-trained Cum Dividend who failed to finish in the money despite getting a good midfield run throughout.

The field full of possible 2015 Stradbroke Handicap hopes was led around by the Tony Gollan-trained six-year-old Rocket To Glory who, from barrier three with Tegan Harrison aboard, was first out and hitting the front.

Also away well and right up on the speed early was the fellow Gollan-trained Whiskey Allround who was happy to trail his stablemate while the Lloyd Kennewell-trained Nite Rocker, in this races as a Plan B after failing to get a run in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) as the first emergency, got stuck in an awkward spot.

The Adelaide raider was caught three deep going to the first corner without much hope of slotting in, forcing him to race with no cover facing the breeze doing it tough in third just ahead of the reigning Ascot Handicap winner Excellantes in fourth.

Easing favourite Delectation from the star Sydney stables of Chris Waller drifted right out from $2.60 to $4 through Ladbrokes.com.au pre-race despite the Shamardal three-year-olds good win in the wet in the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) at Randwick last time out back on April 11 during The Championships.

The young top fancy got snagged at the start and went back when they hit the ground forcing jockey Hugh Bowman to settle Delectation at the tail end of the field.

On the straight 300m from the line Rocket To Glory was still leading with Whiskey Allround chasing but it was the Ryan Wiggins-trained Into The Red, the Not A Single Doubt four-year-old having his first start since a ninth over the 1350m at Doomben back in mid-February, who was finishing the best up along the fence.

Into The Red ($18) went through on the inside and dashed away to win by two and a half lengths ahead of the underrated rails-drawn Bymonashee ($51) for jockey Larry Cassidy while Delectation ($4) worked his way from the back out wide to finish third.

Having shown early potential as a two-year-old Into The Red enjoyed his first win since the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) back in December of 2013.

Today’s Ascot Handicap runner-up Bymonashee meanwhile is still officially nominated for the $2 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) back at Doomben on June 6 as is Waller’s third-placed gelding Delectation.
