Barry Mitchell’s stakes winning colt Wicked Intent has firmed into co-favouritism with Claudia Jean in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic 2015 odds following the barrier draw for Saturday’s Gold Coast showdown.

The two-year-old son of Wicked Style at one stage dominated the pre-field markets for this year’s $2 million Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) after winning his opening three career starts including the Listed Phelan Ready Stakes (1050m) at Doomben on December 13.
After encountering a Soft (7) track for his first run over 1200m at the Gold Coast on December 27 however he suffered his first defeat when two lengths away second as the beaten short-priced favourite in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1200m).
With a firmer course expected for his big assignment over the same track and distance this weekend however, and after coming up trumps with barrier six in the capacity 16-starter Magic Millions 2YO Classic field, the money has started to come again for Wicked Intent to win.
He’s now sharing the top line of Magic Millions Classic betting at $6, Chris Munce retaining the ride, with his biggest danger being co-favourite Claudia Jean with the inside run from barrier one.
The David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Not A Single Doubt filly found the fence for her debut at Flemington on December 20 when racing away to win a set weights plus penalties clash, run the anti-clockwise direction, by three and a half lengths.
She had only 52kg for that effort over 1000m however and so will need to be improving going up to the 55kg on Saturday over the extra 200m with Stephen Baster aboard to replace Jye McNeil.
Following closely in the markets at $6.50 is then Frequendly drawn one on the inside of Wicked Intent in barrier four for jockey Brad Stewart.
Prepared in Brisbane by Les Ross the young daughter of Sequalo comes into the Magic Millions Classic boasting three wins from four starts including a last start victory over 1050m at Toowoomba last Wednesday night in the Magic Millions QTIS 2YO Plate.
Just two other runners in the bumper field pay under $10 to win with the Nick Olive-trained Single Gaze ($9) and Perignon in barrier 11 at a current quote of $11.
Another Not A Single Doubt progeny, Single Gaze is a market mover ahead of Saturday after drawing well in barrier six.
She jumped from a much wider gate last start (12 of 12) when overcoming the outside alley to run a brave third only 0.3 lengths off the Wyong Magic Millions Classic winner.
The winkers go on Gerald Ryan’s smart Snitzel filly Perignon meanwhile who jockey Brenton Avdulla plans to ride closer to the speed after her win over the same distance at Canterbury on December 27 on the back of a fourth to fellow Saturday rival Zoutentant in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic.
Outside the single-figure fancies are then a host of other livewire chances at more generous Magic Millions 2YO Classic odds including Team Hawkes’ Wyong Magic Millions Classic runner-up Surf Seeker ($12) with a wide gate 18 (into 13) draw to overcome, winner of that race Zoutentant ($13) in barrier seven with Glyn Schofield to ride and stable mate of Claudia Jean Miss Idyllic ($15) drawn at the opposite end of the field in 19 (into 14).
