One of six black types running in Brisbane on Saturday, this year’s $100,000 Listed Belvedere Gold Edition Plate (1200m) attracted a dozen three-year-olds with She’s Miss Devine heading the markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
She pays $3 after drawing well in barrier four, Michael Cahill staying aboard after guiding her to victory last start at the Sunshine Coast over the same distance on December 3.
There, in the Yalumba Wines QTIS Handicap, she carried 55.5kg to a two and a quarter length win over Little Fighter for her second win from three starts.
On Saturday she drops half a kilo to 55kg as she chases back-to-back 1200m wins.
Four of her rivals are also paying under $10 in the Gold Edition Plate betting markets with:
- #4 Cap Domingo ($5) – Rails draw for Gordon Yorke’s Gosford raider coming off three wins from as many starts at his home track including over 1200m last start on December 4. Sam Clipperton is replaced by Grant Cooklsey aboard the Natural Destiny colt this week for the youngster’s interstate debut.
- #1 Homehill ($6.50) – Kelly Schweida’s perennial runner-up ran second in three straight races during the winter before a spell that he returns from on Saturday. The son of Chateau Istana was runner-up in the Listed Breakfast Creek Stakes (1400m) in June over 1400m, and was second over the distance again on July 5 in his last start from a wide barrier (15) with 55.5kg. Goes up to 57kg under set weights but barrier six will suit and Ric McMahon rides.
- #9 Stroak ($6.50) – Nice price for Bryan Guy’s Gold Coast-based Real Saga filly who comes off a first-up win over 1200m back down the coast a fortnight ago. Won by a length that day in her first run since crossing 9th to Almalad in the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm in the winter. Out wide in 10 so will have to do work early but Tommy Berry is a good hoop and he’s on for this one.
- #2 Soldi Domani ($9) – Nice barrier two draw for the Bryan Dais-trained Keep The Faith colt last seen running fourth to Beau Jet over 1110m here on November 29 following a seventh in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) in Melbourne in September.
Just outside of these is then Stuart Kendrick’s Myboycharlie filly Little Fighter ($10) from the Sunshine Coast in barrier three out to turn the tables on She’s Miss Devine after running second to her at the start of the month.
