Three-year-old Murt The Flirt is one step closer to the 2015 Magic Millions after his trainer Brendan McCarthy confirmed the gelding will head to Wyong on December 12 for the $100,000 Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes (1200m).

Murt The Flirt impressively won the Magic Millions 3YO Classic (1100m) on debut a fortnight ago, pleasing punters with a starting price of $10 at Ladbrokes.com.au.
He was inconvenienced at the start after getting caught between runners beyond midfield but got into the clear at 400 metres out. He showed a good turn of foot and drew clear on the line to win by one length.
Despite it being his debut run, McCarthy was confident in labelling Murt The Flirt as Group class following the win.
While McCarthy had considered a run at Sandown this Saturday but after working well over the clockwise direction during work at Caulfield Wednesday morning, the trainer has decided not to disrupt his style of running before the Magic Millions Carnival on January 10. Instead the gelding will travel north to New South Wales before his final destination in Queensland.
With prize money totally $1 million it’s not hard to see why McCarthy is sticking to the safe route.
“If he had not got around the reverse way well I would have run him at Sandown (sic Sportingbet Park), but he got around pretty well,” McCarthy told TVN.
“Now we will concentrate on the Wyong race. It will tell us whether it is worth taking him on to the (Gold) Coast.
“He’s taken a bit of improvement from his Ballarat run as he was a little soft going into it.”
Should Murt The Flirt do well in the 2014 Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes, the gelding will progress to the main event on January 10 – the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).
With a total of $5 million in prize money offered across the Magic Millions Carnival on January 10, the race day is an action-packed, exciting event for punters.
