Confirming fellow three-year-old Bring Me The Maid for a return to racing in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick this weekend, trainer Peter Moody has revealed he may accept a position in the final field of the Group 3 Up & Coming Stakes (1300m) for exciting prospect Better Land, rather than wait for the Run To The Rose a week later as previously outlined.

Contesting just two race starts so far, Better Land more than stamped his claims as one to watch through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival when charging home to finish second to Scissor Kick in the Listed Rosebud (1200m) first-up on August 9th.
Also confirming Group 1 champion Dissident for a return at Randwick this weekend in the featured Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), Moody told AAP he was pleased with Better Land’s performance in the Rosebud but was quietly confident of a strong first-up display.
“I’ve got Dissident in the Warwick Stakes, Bring Me The Maid in the Silver Shadow, and possibly I’m thinking strongly that I’m going to run Better Land in the Up And Coming rather than wait an extra week for The Run To The Rose,” Moody said.
“I just think he’ll be benefited at the 1300 metres whereas The Run To The Rose is only 1200.
“We always had the feeling he would (measure up) but you want to see them do it.
“He didn’t have the best of luck with his run in the Rosebud. If he had a (good) barrier he probably wins.”
Contesting just one start through the two-year-old autumn season this year, Better Land displayed his class when strolling home to win the Turnbull Plumbing Plate (1200m) at Sale on April 6th by more than three lengths.
Yet to be confirmed for a path beyond a hopeful appearance in the featured Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens, Better Land is currently available a generous quote of $11 for success in early markets for the September 13th feature race with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
