A strong and consistent performer over her maiden racing preparation through the 2014 Autumn Carnival, trainer Gerald Ryan has revealed the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 13th will feature as the first major target for Ygritte this time in.

Failing to finish worse than second in her four competitive race starts so far, Ygritte has been confirmed to return to racing in this weekend’s Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m); a race in which she is expected to challenge for the victory.
Yet to be tested in an event greater than 1200m competitively, Ryan told TVN the Snitzel filly will head to the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) on August 30th if successful first-up this weekend before her Golden Rose appearance and likely trip to Melbourne.
“She’ll run in the Golden Rose if she gets into the field,” Ryan said.
“It’s a million-dollar race on our home track so you can’t ignore it.
“She proved in the autumn she was right up to the best level and she has come back well.
“If she runs well on Saturday she’ll go to the Run To The Rose then on to the Golden Rose.
“Her main aims are the Flight Stakes in Sydney and the Thousand Guineas in Melbourne.”
Charging home to win the Facebook Friends Race Day Maiden (1000m) by more than two lengths on debut on February 1st, Ygritte more than stamped her claims as one to watch over spring when finishing second in each of her next three races; including the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m), Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeder’s Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Royal Randwick Stakes (1200m) most recently on April 19th.
Confirmed to be partnered by renowned jockey Kerrin McEvoy in the San Domenico Stakes first-up this weekend, Ygritte has so-far received the greatest market share of wagers for success; cutting in from opening odds of more than $7 to current figure as clear $5 market mover; occupying the third line of betting with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
